Wizkid got his education from Ijebu Ode Grammar School which is located in Ogun State, South-Western Nigeria.

Wizkid was interested in music from an early age and he grew up listening to King Sunny Ade, Bob Marley, and Fela Kuti which also inspired him to pursue his career as a singer.

At the age of 11, he started recording music. He made music as a solo artist under the stage name “Lil Prinz” from 2001 to 2006.

He also released an album with the band Glorious Five which he formed along with a couple of his church friends.

The rapper signs a record deal with Empire Mates Entertainment in 2009 and released his debut studio album called Superstar in 2011.

The lead single from the album called “Holla at Your Boy” become a huge hit which helped Wizkid to reach a wider audience.


On 17 September 2014, He released his self-titled second studio album, Ayo under the E.M.E record label.

After his contract with E.M.E was over, he left the record label.

WizKid gained international fame after getting featured in Drake’s 2016 single hit “One Dance’ from the album views.

Whizkid’s fifth studio album is set to release on November 11, 2022, called  “More Love, Less Ego” which features 13 tracks.

Wizkid was surrounded by controversies when Nigerian Entertainment Today published news in August 2011 about Wizkid impregnating undergraduate student Sola Ogudugu.

The singer denied the allegation of having a child. However, the news came to be true when he shared a picture of himself with his 2-year-old son, Boluwatife Balogun.
