He got his hands on the book and finished reading it. It was the autobiography of Lee Iacocca, the head of Ford Motors Company.

The book inspired him to see the world differently. He was fascinated by the world of business after reading the book.

He started learning about different fortune 500 companies, CEOs, and business leaders.

While he was in senior high school, he got a subscription to the Wall Street Journal business week to learn more about business and entrepreneurship.

He had made up his mind to work with the Industry leader, CEOs & visionaries.

He started brainstorming different career paths that would allow him to work with powerful people.

He came across different career path ideas like banking, corporate law, securities brokerage, and so on. But nothing really clicked for him.

While he was still on the hunt for a career path, he stumbled upon his uncle at a gas station.

His uncle was in the commercial real estate business and Fugal asked him what he does for a living and his uncle replied that he works as a commercial real estate broker.

Brandon had no idea about commercial real estate and he asked more about it.

His uncle explained that his primary focus was on the sales and lease of office properties and he gets to work with CEOs and business leaders with their headquarters requirements.

Bradon was amazed by his uncle’s job as he had been looking for opportunities like this.

Seeing his interest in this business, his uncle introduced him to Scott McDonald, the number one real estate broker in the states.

Upon completing high school, he got hired in Scott’s company and he charted his course.

He was just 18 when he ventured into the world of commercial real estate business and this was the beginning.

At the time he built a proprietary database tracking all the inventory from Downtown Salt lake to Provo.

He started contracting all the business owners and entrepreneurs in that area to get a chance to represent them.

He knew the real estate business had a slow sales cycle so he was patient enough to work hard on this business.

He worked more than 60 hours per week and made $500 in that year.

However, Fugal was also serving a mission for the LDS church at the time while having an active license for the real estate business.

Fugal stated in a podcast his experience serving a mission for the church impacted him in a big way.

According to him, serving needy people without any selfish care resulted in a huge impact on his life, and still to this day he is impacted.

He got his first real estate deal completed while he was serving a mission for the church.

Fugal got the money from the deal wired to his Hawaii account and he even got himself his first Armani suit as a celebration.

He closed 3 – 4 more deals while he was still serving a mission.

However, he would spend all the money on material goods as well as taking his companions for lunch.

After he got back home, he would run out of money and he had to start from scratch.

With his experience working in the business for more than a year now combined with his updated contact management program, he started outreaching more businesses and entrepreneurs and he started closing tons of deals.

At the age of 21, Brandon made a breakthrough deal that got him a national article feature in Money Magazine’s Your Company.

He represented Richard Holland’s 6-person software startup.

After that, Fugal never had to look back as he climbed the ladder of success in the commercial real estate business.

Brandon was the co-founder and owner of Coldwell Banker Commercial Advisors before merging and partnering with Colliers International which is one of the leading real estate firms in the world.
